Poor acoustics aren’t only annoying to live in, but it’s also a disturbing factor when making sound recordings. For this reason, we were asked to measure the reverberation time in the police’s prison cells. The poor acoustics decreased the quality of the sound recordings, made to ensure safety. This could lead to dangerous situations. An acoustic solution was required urgently to avoid such a situation.
A police cell is commonly a small, bare room with partially or completely tiled walls. In short: a typical situation for a lot of sounds reflections to emerge. Our acoustic professional measured reverberation times reaching 2 seconds. We calculated precisely how much m² of our absorption material had to be installed in every room, this turned out to be one COUSTceiling with a smooth and dark coloured canvas.
We reduced the reverberation time to 0,8 seconds in every room. We work with fireproof materials as well as offer a warranty on the promised reverberation time. This were decisive factors for the police to call COUST to the scene. The possibility to have the canvas replaced is a nice extra. The police station was more than satisfied with the smooth cooperation.
